Whether you’re a musician or not, my desire is to encourage and inspire you.

One way I do that is by providing music for you to listen to music that lifts the heart and points toward Christ. Another is by creating piano arrangements and training resources for pianists and other musicians who want to grow in both skill and spirit. And through devotional content rooted in Scripture and hymnody, I hope to offer spiritual nourishment for your journey of faith.

So, what qualifies me to serve you?

It all began with a godly heritage. My parents were, and are, followers of Christ and had me in church before I was even born. As I grew, I came to have a personal relationship with Christ and to understand that He was calling me to serve Him. My parents were also responsible for getting me into piano lessons the summer of my seventh birthday — a decision that would shape the rest of my life.
This twin involvement with the piano and the church, along with God’s call on my life, led me to Fort Worth, Texas, and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1978. There, I learned from outstanding teachers in both music and theology and earned a Master’s Degree in Church Music with a concentration in piano.

Since then, I’ve served multiple churches as Music Worship Leader and Minister of Music in traditional, contemporary, and multi-generational settings. Along the way, I’ve also written, arranged, recorded, and mixed music; trained choirs and worship teams; and worked with musicians of all ages and backgrounds.

Through Richard Dickson Music and Ministry, I hope to share those experiences and resources with others — helping church musicians, pastors, and believers make music that not only sounds good but ministers deeply. My prayer is that the gifts and insights God has entrusted to me will, in turn, bless and strengthen you.
